The mention of invisibility for this amorphous outerwear (pieced together from lenticular printed advertisements) asks the viewer to imagine what kind of environment it would be invisible in. The shifting images it displays are the output of global manufacturing, long supply chains and branded / licensed / copyright content. Hung up as a tool on a pegboard, it presents itself as something to be worn with hidden capabilities.

Engaging in the specialized sourcing of materials is a central part of Avery’s lenticular sculpture series, as well as the act of diverting those materials into unintended uses. For Avery lenticular printing is both old tech and low tech but has a hypnotic pull. It gives images a video life, however fleeting.
